Minimal Ingredient Mondays: Beet & Gogi Berry Smoothie and Seeded Maca Milk

Minimal Ingredient Mondays is here again! And here for the last time. I’ve decided that this will be the last time I host this weekly link-up party. I don’t really have a specific reason other than life is getting busy and it’s only going to get busier. My fiance and I bought a house at the end of January and we’ll be moving in and renovating at the beginning of April. I was hoping to continue running Minimal Ingredient Mondays until we moved but I’ve been feeling very tired lately. I’ve decided that I need to take time everyday to relax and that means doing whatever it is that I need on any given day. Feeling obligated to write a blog post every Sunday doesn’t seem to fit with this new way of caring for myself. I still plan on posting but I will post when I feel like writing a post, not because I feel that I need to.

If you are a blogger and are interested in talking over Minimal Ingredient Mondays, please email me (siftstirandsavour@gmail.com) and let me know! It would be great if this weekly link-up could continue 🙂

Now that that’s taken care of, let’s talk food. Last week we had some lovely submissions. You can check them all out here. My favourite submissions from last week were beverages. I love a good, satisfying drink and these look exactly like that!

  2. Recipe must be gluten and dairy-free. Bonus for recipes that are also plant-based.
  3. Lastly, please leave a link to your own recipe that goes to that week’s Minimal Ingredient Monday post, not on this static page.

Your recipes don’t need to be from this week, but it does need to be your own recipe. I will sometimes share photos of the recipes with links back to your blog, so by sharing your recipe, you are giving me permission to use your photo and link back to your recipe.

Minimal Ingredient Mondays: Amaranth & Banana Porridge and Carrot Cake Energy Bars

Sometimes writing a post takes way longer than I expect. Usually it’s because someone plops there head on half of my keyboard and I don’t have the heart to move it:

Head on Computer

Other times it’s just an ear, but that ear twitches in the most adorable of ways with the slightest touch:

Ear on Computer

And sometimes I  just can’t sequence words together in a coherent manner…so I post photos of Wayne and blame him for my writers block 🙂 I’ll let you guess which of the above has caused me to take an excessively long time to put this post together! Luckily it’s time again for Minimal Ingredient Mondays so I don’t need to say much more than explain that Minimal Ingredient Mondays is a weekly link-up party where bloggers share their gluten and dairy-free recipes that have a minimal amount of ingredients. You can check out last week’s submissions here and here are my favourites from last week:

Amaranth and Banana Porridge from Carrie on Vegan

Minimal Ingredient Mondays- Eggplant Burger Buns, Southwest Seasoned Potatoes & Carrots and Cashew Hemp Milk

I hope everyone is staying warm in this chilly weather! My puppy Wayne is loving the snow and constantly digs his face into mounds of snow. I’ve been trying to get a picture of it because it’s incredibly adorable but I have yet to succeed. My fiance did take this picture today though:

Winter Wayne Blog

I cannot believe how big he is now. He’s 6 months old and 14 lbs, but I think 2 lbs of that is just hair. I am in love with how shaggy and disheveled he is so we’re putting off a proper haircut for as long as we can. It’s been cold enough this winter that I hope Wayne appreciates the extra warmth his fluffiness provides 🙂

Anyway, it’s time again for Minimal Ingredient Mondays, a weekly link-up party where bloggers share their gluten and dairy-free recipes that have minimal ingredients. This week was a particular challenge to decide what recipes to highlight because all of the recipes that were shared looked absolutely delicious. It actually took me twice as long as it usually does to decide what recipes to highlight. Clearly looking at all the submissions here is a must! And when you’re done that, here are my favourites from last week:

Monster Turkey or Veggie Burgers with Eggplant Buns from Made to Glow

Eggplant Bun

Golden Crispy Potatoes and Carrots with Southwest Seasoning from Swirls and Spice

Southwestern Seasoning

Cashew Hemp Milk from Gluten-Free Cat

Minimal Ingredient Mondays- Sweet Popeye Nectar, Choc Chunk Nut Bars & Banana Coconut Ice Cream

I cannot believe it’s Sunday already. This past week turned out to be much busier than I expected and even though I slept a lot this weekend, I still feel tired. I think I got a bit too use to constant relaxing over the break and jumping back into work at full speed has been more tiring than I thought. So basically I’m going to stop typing so I can start napping. But first, for those who have forgotten, 5-Ingredient Mondays has now been changed to Minimal Ingredient Mondays, which is a weekly link-up party where bloggers share their gluten and dairy-free recipes with minimal ingredients. You can check out last week’s submissions here. My favourites from last week were:

Sweet Popeye Nectar from Gluten-Free Cat

Choc Chunk Nut Bars from the Candida Diet Plan

Minimal Ingredient Mondays: Chocolate Maca Cookies, Cranberry Jam Tarts and Chunky Monkey Bites

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted 5-Ingredient Mondays. In the free time I acquired by not posting I thought a lot about the purpose of 5-Ingredient Mondays and how the current guidelines match (or don’t match) the purpose. It’s a new year and I’ve decided to put a new spin on this weekly link-up party.

First of all I’ve updated the name. 5-Ingredient Mondays has been put to rest with 2013 and 2014 has given birth to MINIMAL Ingredient Mondays. The name change brings a change to the guidelines. No more counting your ingredient list to see if a recipe has less than 5 non-pantry staple ingredients. No more objective measure for if a recipe is suitable for this link-up or not. Nope, now it’s time for subjective linking-up. If you think your recipe is gluten and dairy-free and has minimal ingredients, link it up. Heck, if you’ve made a recipe with 15 ingredients but the recipe normally has 20+ ingredients, link it up! This link-up party is about celebrating gluten and dairy-free foods that are delicious and have minimal ingredients. Everyone defines minimal differently and I think that’s a good thing.

If you don’t remember the last time I posted a 5-Ingredient Monday post, there were definitely some yummy recipes linked-up. You can see all the submissions here and here are my favourites:

Low-Fat Chocolate Maca Cookies from Shugurcan

Chocolate Maca Cookies

No-Bake Cranberry Jam Tarts from Coconut and Berries

No Bake Cranberry Jam Tarts

Chunky Monkey Bites from Spiced Curiosity
