Smoothies are a frequent meal in my house. I used to have one for breakfast almost everyday, but since I’ve started creating grain-free porridge my breakfast is now rarely a smoothie. Now I take advantage of these simple meals for dinner. After work I tend to come home and do a quick clean of the kitchen- prep it for making dinner. This prep cleaning, however, usually turns into me not wanting to “mess up” the cleaning I just did and thus I turn to smoothies- no dishes, loads of nutrients, endless flavours. Awesome.
Healthy Apple Pecan Smoothie
The perfect “anytime” smoothie to squash those sweet cravings and nourish your body!
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp pecans
- 1 apple
- 1 tbsp apple butter
- 1/2 banana
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- 1-2 cups kale
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Blend water and pecans together in a high power blender to make pecan milk (no need to strain since you’re making a single serving for the smoothie).
- Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Pour into glass and if you so desire, top with extra cinnamon and pecans
